A storm spotter and a storm chaser both observe severe
weather, but their roles and motivations differ significantly. Storm
spotters are trained volunteers who report on storms in their local area to
the National
Weather Service (NWS), while storm chasers actively pursue storms to observe, document, and sometimes study them, often traveling long distances.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Storm Spotters:
Primarily focus on providing real-time reports on storm
conditions, such as hail size, wind speed, and tornado sightings, to the National Weather Service.
Driven by a desire to help their communities by providing
critical information for issuing timely warnings.
Typically stay within their local area or county, often near
their homes.
Often volunteers with organizations like SKYWARN, receiving
training from the National Weather Service.
May use radios for communication, but their primary tools
are their eyes and observational skills.
Storm Chasers:
Actively track and follow storms, often traveling long
distances to get close to severe weather phenomena like tornadoes.
Driven by personal interest in severe weather, scientific
research, or media documentation.
May travel hundreds of miles to intercept storms, often
covering large areas.
May have formal meteorological training or be self-taught,
but often have extensive knowledge of storm dynamics and forecasting.
May use sophisticated equipment, including weather stations,
radar, and communication systems.
Key Differences:
The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin.
Happy Thursday all
I am always thankful for my Salvation, and the love of our heavenly Father. thankful for a few days of cooler temps, food in the cabinets, a/c for the heat, dependable transportation.
Thankful for the relationship that is growing between my sister n law, and niece, and the great niece and nephew.
Thankful for new found friends, and a special friend that God has brought to me
Please continue to pray for our little church, and that if it closes, I will be able to find another church. A friends needs financial prayers, another friend needs an unspoken prayer, families needing prayer, our country.
I hope everyone has a blessed rest of the week and weekend
Thankful Thursday
There is so much that I am thankful for I do not know where to begin.
I am always thankful for my salvation. God's Majesty A/C in this continued +100 degree days I have started going to Bible Study with my sister n law and niece, for those of you who have been following me for a while, know this has been something we have all prayed for. That we would be a family instead of odds. Right after mama passed *4 yrs ago the 17th of July* we started working on our friendship/family.
I would like to ask for prayers for our little tiny church of 10, this week one of the elders he is 94 turned in his keys as he no longer feels safe driving, and once he gets dressed, he fears of falling. Our church may be closing soon but isn't the right time yet.
God, is working in me, with a few things, I love how His timing is always perfect.
I hope everyone has a blessed week and upcoming weekend
Hey all again the last 2 weeks have been crazy busy with the weather, and dr's appt.
It is spose to storm over night again 1st time since 2019 that all of OK is drought free. This week Tuesday I started going to a small group bible study with my sister n law and niece, it was so much fun, we had dinner (Mexican food) and a wonderful study. I will say the fellowship was awesome, and could tell that the Holy Spirit was present. I miss my church in KS at times like this. I am not sure if I am in the right place or not, so if you pray please pray I receive God's guidance.
God has brought someone into my life I never thought I could find love and happiness again after Gary *gator* passed away. I will disclose more at a later date
